For Several years now I have been promoting and endorsing Hobie Mirage Kayaks.They are undisputedly the world leader in pedal driven kayaks. They are superb watercraft. Safe, fun, stable with a list of fishing accessories and attachments to please all anglers.
I have spent time in Hobie Pro Anglers, Mirage Outback’s, and their Compass range of kayaks fishing out of these in most states of Australia, inshore and offshore. The mirage drive is second to none and yet Hobie continue to innovate coming up with a new concept of “kick up fins” which will make fishing in freshwater rivers and areas where snags and boulders create shallow dangers even better.

When you hop onto a Hobie you notice immediately the quality of the build. I have done my fair share of offshore fishing in Hobie Kayaks and even as the swell and wind pick up you always feel safe. The airtight flotation and design allows you to cruise over the waves and steer into strong currents and choppy seas.
This year I am also using the Hobie Mirage Lynx. This light weight kayak makes it so easy to throw onto the roof racks of your car, which is perfect for me as I travel around the country. The Lynx’s flat bottom design provides stability perfect for standing and casting. I love the wide bow which gives a smooth ride and also provides storage for all your fishing gear! It comes with the Mirage Drive 180 for speed and pedal propulsion in both forward and back so when I hook up Im able to easily manoeuvre the Hobie Lynx in any direction. I can’t speak highly enough of the Hobie Lynx and I take it on all my film shoots it’s just so easy to bring anywhere.
The stealth style of fishing out of a Hobie sometimes sees your target species attacking your lure only a rod length away. It’s an exciting way to do battle with a big fish and I have caught some powerful predators in these amazing Hobie kayaks.
